Want to watch from bed? It's possible this year.
What’s the one thing that screams America more than beer and burgers? Fireworks, of course. So, it’s no surprise that these colorful illuminations have become the highlight of our Independence Day celebrations. And no one seems to do it more extravagantly than New York City.
For the past four decades, Macy’s has put on a spectacular fireworks show complete with musically choreographed explosions and live performers like Sara Bareilles. This year is no exception. The explosive event is set to return again this year with the display taking place Tuesday, July 4 on the East River starting at around 9:25 p.m. Though there will be plenty of public observation areas, there are few special spots in the city with an especially bangin’ view.
1. Hotel Brooklyn Bridge
With one of the largest fireworks shows in the country comes some of the largest crowds as well. But, what if you could have a private viewing from the comfort of your own bed? No, you don’t need to own a penthouse. Instead, the new 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is offering one of the best views in the city from some of its rooms and suites—all directly overlooking the three barges setting off the explosions. Naturally, the hotel is offering a special Red, White & Brooklyn package that includes accommodations in the Bridge King rooms and Skyline 1 and 2 Bed Suites where guests can take in all the action with a complimentary glass of rosé in hand. Starting room rates begin at $460 per night.
2. Bateaux New York Dinner Cruise
Aside from actually lighting the fuses on the official barge yourself, there’s really no way to get closer to the colorful combustibles than being on a boat right next to them. Bateaux New York is offering a special holiday cruise that takes passengers on an all-glass enclosed river boat (with a roof deck) around the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade, and over to the Brooklyn Bridge where the show will take place. In addition to unobstructed views of the fireworks, you’ll also be treated to a three-course plated dinner, live band, and dance floor. Those who book before June 19th can receive 20 percent off the $450 ticket price using the code USA20.
