Lorena to target Mexico with torrential rainfall into this weekend

Lorena became a hurricane on Wednesday night as it hugged Mexico's western coastline. Lorena has been wobbling back-and-forth between tropical storm and hurricane strength over the past 24-48 hours. Tropical Storms Mario and Kiko also continue to churn in the East Pacific basin.
The Government of Mexico has issued a hurricane warning for the Baja California peninsula from La Paz to Puerto Cortes.

Lorena will continue to move away from Jalisco, Mexico into the weekend and to the northwest towards the southern tip of Baja California,
Tropical downpours will then spread across the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula through Friday.
With how slow Lorena is moving, the region could see several rounds of these heavy downpours which could lead to flooding, and even mudslides.

Meanwhile, as Lorena moves northwest through the weekend, the moisture from the system will be pulled up into parts of Mexico and the southwestern U.S.
Not far away, Tropical Storm Mario could move into a similar area into next week. This would bring the threat for more rain and wind to areas already hit by Lorena, but again parts of the United States.
