Photos: New York City receives 1st major snowfall of the season
Parts of the northeastern United States experienced their first major snowfall of the season this weekend.
A major winter storm blanketed parts of the Southeast with a rare snowfall, including in Florida and parts of southern Texas. The storm barreled north, dropping travel-disrupting snow along the Interstate-95 corridor.
From Washington, D.C., to Portland, Maine, snow created a wintry scene on Saturday and into early Sunday morning.
Nearly 5 inches of snow fell in Central Park in New York City.

While Baltimore and Washington, D.C., received less than 3 inches of snow, areas to their northwest and southeast picked up as much as 6 inches, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Renee Duff.
Baltimore and Philadelphia both broke daily snowfall records. Areas north and west of Boston picked up over half a foot of snow.
The snow created travel woes, especially at Northeast airports. Delays up to two hours were reported at Newark International Airport.
