Happy National Weatherperson's Day!
From the National Weather Service:
"February 5 is National Weatherperson's Day, commemorating the birth of John Jeffries in 1744. Jeffries, one of America's first weather observers, began taking daily weather observations in Boston in 1774 and he took the first balloon observation in 1784. This is a day to recognize the men and women who collectively provide Americans with the best weather, water, and climate forecasts and warning services of any nation."

The weather has an impact on everyone, each and every single day. Every time you pull up the forecast online, on the app on your cell phone or view it on television from the local news station, there are meteorologists responsible for that forecast. Meteorologists who work around the clock, 365 days a year (including holidays and weekends; the weather never takes a holiday!) to provide you, the public, with the most updated weather information we possibly can.
I'm obviously biased, but I think meteorologists are pretty great. One doesn't go into this field without a large amount of passion and a strong sense of dedication. We are always trying to learn and become better in a field that is constantly evolving.
My request for all of you today is to take a moment and think of who your favorite and most trusted meteorologist is and simply acknowledge them.
To all of my fellow weather "people," Happy 'Us' Day!
