Webcam captures thick snow squall overtaking Aspen
Published Feb 25, 2020 9:11 PM EDT
Monday morning, a snow squall passed over Aspen Snowmass, a ski resort northwest of Aspen, Colorado. The "Roundshot" webcam there snapped this panorama (click for original HD image):

Here is a closer look of the "wall of snow" that moved in front of the camera:

Intense snow squalls are often the cause of vehicular pileups, as they can change traffic conditions in a flash. The best photos of them come from tower or mountain cameras like this one (unfortunately, the camera only snaps a photo every 10 minutes, so the timelapse below doesn't show much - HD version available at this link).
This snow squall swept through Aspen, Colorado, on Feb. 24. It came in like a massive wall towering high into the sky.
I was hoping to see some compelling radar data to showcase, but unfortunately Aspen, Colorado, is in a bit of a radar hole, and the scan would have been too high to see this viewpoint.
