New Widgets - iPhone, Blackberry, Adobe Air
Followup 3/3: New reviews of our Stratus widget: Mashable.com & CNET.
As you know, we are always working at AccuWeather.com to get weather information into more widgets and on to more devices, so you can always have the latest weather information from us close to you.
Recently we have released three items of interest:
1. iPhone App
I don't own an iPhone, and that makes me sad. I did review one Christmas before last in a video blog. They are as awesome as the hype says. We now have a new application for the iPhone (I previously blogged about our widget for the iPhone, and of course you can access AccuWeather.com's full site on your iPhone as well).
(requires iTunes & iPhone)
Here are some screen shots:
I have played around with the iPhone app, and it's pretty neat. It gives you:
- Current Conditions - 5-Day Forecast - Hourly Forecast - Accuweather.com Videos (Limited Selection) - Accuweather.com Weather Indices- WeatherAlarms - NWS Advisories
2. "Stratus" (our Adobe Air widget)
(requires Air 1.5)
- Install Adobe Air First- More Info (AccuWeather.com) - More Info (Adobe.com)
This weather widget is available for Adobe Air, which you can install on any operating system (even Mac & Linux). It provides a 5-day forecast, current conditions, and is customizable. Screen shots below.
Here's a video about the app by Widget Mike and Developer Rick.
3. Blackberry "Web Signals" Service
This Blackberry-only service puts the weather right on the dashboard of your color device through their Web Signals program.
(requires Blackberry)
- More About "Web Signals" (Blackberry.com) - More About Our Widget (Blackberry.com)
I haven't tested this one but it appears to give you similar information to the iPhone app. A screenshot is shown below.
That's all for now; stay tuned to our Widgets/Downloads page and our Wireless page for future product announcements.
