Your guide to cold weather running gear
How to stay warm during winter exercise, and what to wear.
Running in the rainy weather can be refreshing when done right, but you will want to wear the right clothes to prevent you from getting too wet and catching a cold. So if you are looking to go running in the cold here are some tips so that you have a good time as well as some ideas for excellent cold weather running gear. It is always important to keep on eye on the local weather forecast if you are running for extended periods to make sure you don't get caught in a bad situation.
What climate do you live in?
The first thing to consider before compiling your cold weather running gear is the climate where you live. There are five different types of climates, including:
-
Polar
-
Continental
-
Temperate
-
Tropical
-
Dry
Your wardrobe choice will differ according to your area's climate.. For example, if you live in a tropical climate, you are going to want lightweight, water-resistant workout clothes. If you live in a polar climate, you are going to want heavy and water-resistant outfits. If you live in a dry climate, you will have less to worry about when it comes to letting water in, but you will still want to keep warm in the colder temperatures.

Wear water-resistant shoes
The most important component of your cold weather running gear is adequate protection for your feet while running. If you go running in the rain you are going to want to change out your lightweight running shoes for something that is a little bit more protective of the water. Running with wet feet is undoubtedly one of the fastest ways to catch a cold. Your shoe choice doesn't have to be expensive either; pick something sturdy and affordable, and you will be alright.

Wear heavy socks only if necessary
You would be surprised how hot you get while running in the cold. Don't overdo it with your sock choice as you may end up overheating your feet prematurely through your workout and be uncomfortable. For cold weather, thin wool socks will work just fine.

Wear a running jacket
Modern technology for sports jackets is impressive. You can buy a top-quality running jacket with air vents that open up to let your body breathe, which is an essential factor to consider when purchasing a winter running jacket. Remember in the wintertime to wear a cotton sweatshirt underneath your jacket so that when you get too hot, you can shed the jacket and let your body breathe through the sweatshirt.
Wear water-resistant workout pants
Workout pants that perform well in the rain might be worth spending a little bit more money on a nice pair. Ideally, you want your running pants to come off easily so you can strip down to a light layer when you get your body warmed up.
