AccuWeather Named Official Weather Partner of Military Makeover with Montel Williams
Airing this month on Lifetime and Armed Forces Network, AccuWeather provided critical weather forecasting and insights on set during home renovation of Army veteran family based in North Carolina
AccuWeather Global Weather Center, May 15, 2020 — Global weather and digital media leader AccuWeather has partnered with veteran-focused, home renovation television series Military Makeover with Montel Williams as the exclusive weather provider for the upcoming season. The show brings viewers on a transformational journey of the home and lives of deserving veterans and their families by fully renovating their home.
The upcoming season, premiering on May 15, 2020 at 7:30am ET on Lifetime TV, focuses on the renovation of the home of two Army veterans, the Harvey-Woodruff family, who are both medically retired disabled veterans. As an active veteran parent team, they reside in North Carolina with their three children. The series is also carried on the Armed Forces Network.
In March 2020, a team from AccuWeather led by the company's International Chief Strategy Officer Vincent McDonald, who is also an Air Force veteran, traveled to the Military Makeover construction site and filming location in North Carolina to provide weather forecasting insights to benefit the renovation. While on set, McDonald used the award-winning AccuWeather app to help Art Edmonds and the crew understand how current and upcoming weather conditions would impact construction of the Harvey-Woodruff family home.
“As an Air Force veteran I fully appreciate the challenges and opportunities that come with planning around the weather, and I am delighted that our forecasting capabilities and innovative app could play an important role during the renovation process for the home of a family that is more than deserving of this opportunity," said McDonald. ”AccuWeather has a long history of supporting veterans and military families, and we applaud the efforts of Military Makeover in making these veterans' dreams come true by giving them the precious gift of home."
Like McDonald, many AccuWeather team members are veterans themselves. AccuWeather has also proudly supported the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides services for veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound while serving in the military on or after 9/11.
The AccuWeather Network was honored to participate and partner with Military Makeover during this meaningful renovation process,” said AccuWeather Network General Manager Sarah Katt. “Our own programming has commemorated the indelible impact made by servicemen, women and veterans, so this alignment was a very natural fit. We are looking forward to watching how this season will unfold, and how it will undoubtedly transform the lives of yet another military family.”
In January, the AccuWeather Network won “Best Short Form Content,” at the Cynopsis Media Best of the Best Awards, for its original content commemorating the 75thanniversary of D-Day, featuring WWII veterans sharing stirring memories of how weather impacted their D-Day involvement.
The Military Makeover with Montel Williams series seeks to repay and recognize veterans by carrying out top-to-bottom home renovation for members of our military and their loved ones. The renovation process is an uplifting, community-focused and transformative experience for both the home and the families that live there.
The 8-episode series, now in its 22nd season, will reveal the Harvey-Woodruff family home on June 26. AccuWeather's Vincent McDonald appears on episode 2, scheduled to air on May 21st.
