New AccuWeather App Debuts on BlackBerry 10
STATE COLLEGE, PA – March 25, 2013 – AccuWeather’s reliable and local forecasts for 2.7 million locations worldwide are available to BlackBerry® 10 customers. The AccuWeather app for BlackBerry 10 was featured on the new BlackBerry® Z10 and BlackBerry® Q10 smartphones at BlackBerry Jam Europe in February.
“It is very exciting to be a part of BlackBerry 10 from the beginning,” said Pascal Racheneur, Vice President of Interactive Media for AccuWeather. “The initial reception of the platform and our app has been great. We’re looking forward to watching the platform’s growth as the new smartphones roll out around the world.”
AccuWeather worked directly with BlackBerry to develop an app that offers: - Local forecasts for 2.7 million locations worldwide with forecasts that update every hour. Information includes detailed, day-by-day forecasts for the next 15 days and 24 hours of hourly forecasts. - Current weather conditions with the very latest humidity percentages, dew point, visibility, UV index, wind speed gusts and direction, and RealFeel® - AccuWeather’s exclusive weather forecasting system that analyzes multiple weather factors to determine how the local temperature actually feels. - For worldwide locations, when AccuWeather forecasts snow, ice, rain, wind, or the probability of thunderstorms, you will see an orange exclamation point displayed within the location’s current and 15-day screens. - The 15-day forecasts also include forecasted precipitation and amounts, wind speed gusts and direction, times for sunrise and sunset, UV index, and RealFeel®. - Radar for all of North America, Europe, and worldwide satellite overlaying interactive Google Maps™. - Current weather news and broadcast-quality weather videos with many available in both English and Spanish. - Current conditions and daily forecast sharing using BlackBerry® Messenger.
“The AccuWeather app is great example of how beautiful an app can be on BlackBerry 10,” said Martyn Mallick, Vice President of Global Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry. “AccuWeather’s app includes colorful imagery and rich content – this is an app customers will love checking to see the current weather conditions and forecasts.”
AccuWeather is available for free on the BlackBerry® World™ storefront.
