CNBC Selects AccuWeather as Primary Weather Provider
NBC's "Early Today" Will Also Air AccuWeather's Daily National Forecasts
(State College, PA, August 12, 2003) - AccuWeather, Inc. (www.accuweather.com), the world's leading commercial weather service, has been selected as the primary weather provider for CNBC, the global leader in business news that reaches more than 175 million homes and offices worldwide.
As part of the agreement, AccuWeather will produce and distribute eight live weather forecasts to CNBC each day, featuring renowned AccuWeather Expert Senior Meteorologist and Senior Vice President Dr. Joe Sobel. In addition, AccuWeather will also provide a national forecast every morning for NBC's Early Today program, an early morning national broadcast that provides breaking national and international financial, consumer and general news.
The main focus of the AccuWeather broadcasts will be daily weather forecasts for business travelers. In addition, a special 10:45 am broadcast will focus on how current weather conditions will affect investors and weather sensitive businesses. AccuWeather will also provide CNBC custom animated graphics to illustrate how weather patterns will affect business travelers, helping them to more effectively plan their trip. The live weather forecasts featuring Dr. Joe Sobel will air at 5:15 a.m., 5:45 a.m., 6:15 a.m., 6:45 a.m., 7:10 a.m., 8:10 a.m., 9:10 a.m., and 10:35 a.m daily.
AccuWeather has been providing "live hit" weather programming to CNBC since 1998. As a result of the new partnership, CNBC will also have on-demand access to all 90 AccuWeather meteorologists, as well as hurricane, winter storm and severe weather experts for breaking weather news and information. When conditions warrant, AccuWeather's Storm Team Live™ service will provide live breaking weather news direct from AccuWeather's world headquarters in State College, PA.
