WWCP-TV/WATM-TV Becomes Latest Station to Offer Exclusive AccuWeather Forecast as Part of Daily News Broadcast
World's Weather Authority to Work With WWCP-TV/WATM-TV Chief Meteorologist Travis Koshko to Provide Most Accurate Forecast in Area
(State College, PA, November 14, 2003) - AccuWeather, the World's Leading Weather Authority™, and WWCP-TV/WATM-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, have announced a partnership to provide the Exclusive AccuWeather Forecast™to viewers in Central Pennsylvania.
The agreement will enhance the weather segment produced and presented by WWCP/WATM Chief Meteorologist Travis Koshko and Weekend Weather Anchor Neil Nadel. Koshko and Nadel will prepare their stations' forecasts by working with AccuWeather's more than 70 meteorologists, the most forecasters under one roof anywhere in the world. In addition, the stations will be using AccuWeather's Galileo™, Television Weather System, a product that will enable WWCP/WATM to provide the most up-to-the minute information during severe weather along with clear, informative graphics.
WWCP/WATM began offering the Exclusive AccuWeather Forecast on Nov. 3. "Working with AccuWeather's meteorologists has been outstanding," Koshko said. "Their support enhances the forecasts I can offer viewers."
Koshko is also pleased with the array of tools he has at his disposal since the agreement was signed. "AccuWeather's FirstWarn® Neighborhood NEXRAD™" weather radar enables me to be able to pinpoint where the worst weather is occurring," he said. "For example, I can zoom into street level when severe weather occurs to show viewers precisely where the worst storms are and which towns or neighborhoods are next to be hit."
The agreement will also help the stations to provide better coverage when major weather events occur, such as last February's President's Day blizzard or last September's Hurricane Isabel. "WWCP and WATM's can rely on our facilities for live reports during breaking weather situations," Dr. Joel N. Myers, AccuWeather Founder and President, said. "We have state-of-the-art television production facilities available, so they can broadcast live from AccuWeather to give viewers the absolute latest information whenever severe weather occurs."
"We are pleased to be working with knowledgeable individuals such as Travis and Neil. The combination of their expertise and our experience and resources will establish WWCP/WATM as the go-to source for weather in their market," Myers said. "Viewers looking for the most complete weather coverage can now turn to WWCP/WATM."
