AccuWeather Partners with Yahoo! Inc.
(State College, PA, October 19, 2000) - AccuWeather, The World's Weather Authority® today announced a content agreement with Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO), a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company, to provide comprehensive and timely streaming video weather information to Yahoo!® Weather (http://weather.yahoo.com).
"Under the agreement, Yahoo! Weather consumers can access comprehensive and compelling streaming weather information from AccuWeather.com," said Dr. Joel N. Myers, founder and president, AccuWeather. "Not only can users access streaming video that shows local forecasts, national outlooks, and severe weather reports, but they can view highly accurate and commanding features on a variety of weather and weather-related topics, compiled by the AccuWeather team of expert broadcast meteorologists."
Each day, Yahoo! Weather users can access streaming video presentations covering more than one hundred U.S. and Canadian cities, 20 international cities, and numerous national and regional summaries, presented by AccuWeather expert broadcast meteorologists. The content also includes frequently updated, one-minute, StormXpert™ severe weather reports from the AccuWeather Storm Center. These reports focus on severe weather, including hurricanes, floods, severe thunderstorms, snowstorms, and other storm updates. The streaming content also includes reports on sporting events weather, travel, and recreation.
To further enhance the effectiveness of the streaming presentations, AccuWeather Expert meteorologists use telestrator capabilities to make it easier for users to visualize, interpret, and understand weather patterns and systems which may affect their areas."Yahoo! is an industry leader in broadcasting streaming media over the Internet, and Accuweather.com is one of the most well-regarded weather sites on the Web," added Dr. Myers.
