You may have heard that the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, did not see his shadow this year, so we are to expect an early spring. With spring already on its way, you should know what seeds to plant to ensure you have the most exquisite garden this season.

1. Tulip - Tulipa
The tulip is a timeless classic of all the spring flowers. Tulips are known for their lovely cup-like shape and the wide variety of colors that span the entire rainbow, and beyond! You may even find some tulips in a deep maroon or black. Tulips only need to be watered weekly and have partial sunlight. Expect the earliest bloom in early March, right at the start of spring!
2. Daffodil - Narcissus
Maybe only second to the tulip, the daffodil is one of the most iconic spring plants with its long flower petals with a tubular center.You can find daffodils in the warmer colors, like red, orange, yellow, and pink, which will no doubt add that Spring splash of color you were missing during the long, grey winter! After planting, you may find daffodils blooming as early as late winter, depending on your climate. Water your daffodils frequently during bloom to keep them thriving all Spring.
3. Crocus - Crocus
One of the prettiest flowers, not just of spring flowers, is the crocus. Small, elegant, and graceful, crocus plants will carpet your home garden in lovely shades of blues and purples. If you are looking for low-maintenance, the crocus, while seemingly delicate, are quite hardy plants that grow stronger and prettier in volume. Just make sure to water them well. These types of flowers are known to push past the icy grip of snow to show off their dainty bloom, so expect these before Spring has even officially sprung!

4. Hyacinth - Hyacinthus
To say a hyacinth plant has uniquely shaped flower arrangements would be an understatement, but their different appearance is what makes them unique. Hyacinth flowers grow in clusters that may resemble Lego blocks stacked on top of one another atop a long green stalk, and they can come in a whole assortment of pastel hues! Hyacinth usually bloom a few weeks into Spring when it has gotten a bit warmer, sunnier, and wetter, but they will be worth the wait.
5. Camellia - Camellia
A queen among flowers, the camellia is one of the early spring flowers you don’t want to overlook. Camellias are intricately designed with petals layering over one another repeatedly to create a more open rose-like appearance. These royal looking flowers also come in many colors to fit your needs. Camellias are known to even bloom in winter, so be sure to plant them when you are ready for their immaculate bloom in Spring.

6. Pansy - Viola
One of the most well-known and easy to grow flower types is the pansy. There are few flowers that rival pansies in the range of colors they can come in. Experiment with your garden’s color scheme using pansies that vary from a vibrant gold color to an almost black purple. Pansies can bloom all year-round with the right conditions, so be sure to be watering them weekly and making sure they have plenty of sun to guarantee an early Spring bloom.
7. Primrose - Primula
Primroses will be able to chase the winter dreariness away the moment you lay your eyes on their bright flower petals Primroses need lightly shaded areas and a bit of water to truly flourish but don’t worry about being too finicky with them. 8. Azalea - Rhododendron
If you are looking to perhaps line your entryway with a pair of flowering bushes that are simple to attend to, consider azaleas. Azaleas won’t need much more than a good layer of mulch, and they aren’t bothered by insects or other wildlife. The most care you’ll have to do is to keep the branches pruned back. Azaleas bloom all at once in early spring under the right conditions, so be sure to be attending to their every need to hopefully be blessed with their splendid bloom early.

One of the most aromatic flowers to ever grace a garden, the sweet pea will quickly become the envy of your garden with it’s dangling, paper-thin petals and lovely pastel shades. Sweet peas may be difficult to grow as they don’t reproduce as easily as most other spring flowers, but once they get going, you’ll be glad you put in the extra time and effort. Sweet peas tend to bloom in mid-spring, making them one of the late bloomers of spring, but as we said before; the wait for a sweet pea is well worth it.
