The team worked diligently to lift the heavy carport and free the trapped man who was finally extricated from the wreckage and transported by helicopter to the hospital.
The department spent Tuesday and Wednesday responding to power line problems and other weather-related calls after a series of atmospheric rivers over the last week brought feet of rain and snow to the Pacific Northwest.
About 90 miles northeast of Medford, several feet of snow piled up in front of the webcam at Crater Lake National Park's headquarters.

Medford fire officials issued a reminder that with snow in the forecast, everyone must remain cautious around structures at risk of collapse. Avoid standing under snow-laden tree limbs, carports, awnings, and other potentially unstable structures.
